Here is the English abstract of Dr. Raheleh Kardavani's (Assistant Professor, Mehrestan Research Institute, Isfahan, Iran) presentation at the 2nd pre-con meeting of the conference “Imam Reza (PBUH) and Interreligious Dialogue" which was held in the Iranian Jewish Committee in Isfahan on June 8, 2023.
The Impact of Religious Heart Beliefs on Family Health and Efficiency
The foundation of all human orientations, including his/her religiosity, is their beliefs. Therefore, heart belief plays the highest role in individual and social life. Here, heart belief refers to a credence that is attached to the mind, thought, and soul of humans. According to Islamic sources, the most important religious beliefs that make a family effective are: belief and faith in God, in prophethood and Imamate, and in life after death. The results of research presented in this article indicate that religious beliefs have an impact on the effectiveness of the family from three aspects: giving meaning to life, fulfilling duties and responsibilities by family members, and coping with problems that arise within the family. If propositions such as "humans are alive after death," "respecting the rights of others is necessary," "respecting parents is necessary," "men and women need love," and "raising children is necessary" are accepted and transformed into heart beliefs by an individual, they will be connected to his/her mind, thought, and soul. Therefore, having correct beliefs in life, especially within the family, leads to a life on the right and effective path. True beliefs are those that are in line with the Creator's desires, as the one who created humans knows their capacities, obligations, and prohibitions. The Quran, based on the concepts of "friendship" and "mercy," defines the ideal form of human relationships in marital relationships. The foundation of an ideal family in divine religions is friendship, reconciliation, respect for each other's characteristics and rights, and intimacy. So that each individual in the family first finds themselves in the presence of God, understands the meaning and purpose of family life in line with the belief in the existence of God and life after death, and then behaves based on this divine insight.
